I design systemsthat put designin order and business in motion.

I'm Matheus Souza, Design System Specialist and Product Designer. I connect strategy, product, Figma, engineering and AI to turn complexity into efficiency, quality and consistency.

São Paulo, Brazil

Consistency is not the goal. It's what lets you scale.

I don't believe in rigid processes by default. Every business needs a different level of structure, freedom and control. My job is to understand that relationship and build systems that make sense for the people who use the product and the people who sustain it.

It all depends. Nothing should be too rigid or too fluid: the business needs just enough structure to keep evolving.

AI that frees the team

Less repetitive operations. More capacity to think about the system.

AI across support, documentation, knowledge, handoff, productivity, analysis and automation.

A Design System can start with components. But it shouldn't end with them.

Where I connect the dots.

AI is not an isolated specialty in my work. It's a layer.

I use AI inside the process: research, synthesis, documentation, support, exploration, handoff, prototyping and automation. When it doesn't solve a real problem, it doesn't need to be there.

From code to systems, by way of product.

I started creating early, around age 12, with freelance photo and video editing.

I entered Computer Science thinking I'd go into front-end or back-end. At university, a professor noticed my interest went beyond code: product, audience, scale, monetization, business. He introduced me to Design and UX. I left Computer Science, moved to Design and later specialized in UX.

As a Product Designer, I had my first real contact with Design Systems. That's where product, systems, scale, technology, consistency and business started to make sense together.

My work revolves a lot around systems. My life, not so much.

I love music and play drums. I really enjoy photography and traveling around South America. I go back to Chile almost every year, because I like it there. There's also a reasonably high chance I'm planning another trip to Chile.

My family is small and noisy: me, my wife, who joins me on every adventure, and Yami and Yume, my cats, who are almost my kids.
